Patrol Division, Deputy Chief Robert DelMuro

Deputy Chief Robert Del Muro was born and raised in Port Washington, graduating from Schreiber High School in 1974. He was hired by the Port Washington Police District on April 25, 1981. From 1981 to April 1994, he was assigned to patrol. On April 29, 1994, he was assigned to the detective Division and promoted to Detective on August 1, 1994.

Deputy Chief Del Muro spent 16 years as a Detective investigating many diverse types of crimes. In 1995 he began investigating active “gangs” in Port Washington. Shortly after that, he was involved in the starting of “Gang Roundtable” which included Detectives and Police Officers from Nassau County, Suffolk County and other Village Police Departments. The roundtable grew to include the NYC Police Department, Nassau, Suffolk and NYC Correctional Facilities.

Del Muro was promoted to Sergeant on February 1, 2010 and re-assigned to Patrol.

Promoted to Lieutenant on May 31, 2012 and remained in Patrol.

February of 2014, he was designated Commanding Officer of Patrol.

On May 14, 2014 he was promoted to Deputy Chief.
