On April 28th  2018 The Port Washington Police and the DEA held a Drug Take Back Day.  The DEA took in 4,813.577 lbs. of unused/unwanted medications New York State wide. 1,839.038 lbs. came from Long Island. The Port Washington Police took in 45.170 lbs. So far in the 15 DEA Drug Take Back events, Long Island alone took in over 38,600 pounds of medications.

Chief Salerno thanks the community for their support and also requests the public take advantage of the drug drop box located in the lobby of Port Washington Police Headquarters. Unwanted medications are accepted 24/7. The Police District cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.
