The Port Washington Police have received complaints regarding vehicles turning left onto Main Street from Port Washington Blvd. without being able to fully enter Main Street. These vehicles then block the intersection causing delays for Southbound traffic on Port Washington Blvd.
Motorists who block the box cause traffic congestion, delays and prevent vehicles from passing through the intersection safely, but also create dangerous conditions for pedestrians and cyclists because they can’t walk safely through crosswalk areas. When cross traffic cannot get through, neither can emergency vehicles. If you cant clear an intersection, don’t enter it, period.
PWPD has been and will continue issuing summonses at this intersection and others throughout the community.
